The RSA’s Regions and Cities Book Series has published over 150 titles and brings together incisive and critically engaged international and interdisciplinary research on regions and cities. Books in the series are of interest to geographers, economists, sociologists, political scientists and cultural scholars, as well policymakers involved in regional and urban development.
We are now actively commissioning new research-level academic books to be published in the Regions and Cities Book Series.
If you have an idea for an edited book or monograph at any stage, please get in touch with Kristina Abbotts at Kristina.Abbotts@informa.com. We also welcome proposals for books published as Open Access.

“I am grateful for the dissemination and marketing provided by the RSA for titles in the Regions and Cities Book series. RSA has promoted the book via a news item on the RSA website, social media promotion, publishing a book review in the Regions magazine, and organising a webinar to present the book. All of these actions have promoted the book’s visibility. And this support is free!” Ilaria Mariotti, Associate Professor of Urban and Regional Economics, DAStUPolitecnico di Milano, Italy. Ilaria’s latest book in the series The Covid-19 Pandemic and the Future of Working Spaces (2022) was published open access.
“The Regions and Cities book series provides you with a high-quality publishing process and brand identity. Publishing with the series was an enjoyable experience and I had the opportunity of working with editors who were familiar with the kind of issues that I was writing about. Definitely, if you are looking for prestige attached to a series, the Regions and Cities book series is the place.” Alejandra Trejo, Professor, CEDUA, El Colegio de México, Mexico. Alejandra’s most recent book in the RSA’s Regions and Cities series is Metropolitan Governance in Latin America (2021)
“As the premier organization in the area of urban and regional studies, RSA provides invaluable services to scholars and other researchers throughout the world. Its reviews of published books in its several scholarly journals, and the articles it publishes enrich and sustain the research ability of all of us who value high quality research and who endeavour to contribute to this body of work ourselves.” Peter Karl Kresl, Charles P. Vaughan Professor of Economics Emeritus, Bucknell University, USA. Peter’s most recent book in the series Urban Competitiveness in Developing Economies (2020) won the RSA’s Best Book Award in 2023.
