This timely and very popular book presents novel analyses of the scale, nature and geographies of the economically ‘left behind’ place problem, examining why past urban and regional policies have not succeeded in achieving a more spatially equitable distribution of economic prosperity and opportunity. Having identified significant limitations and weaknesses of past policy, the book argues that a major transformative spatial policy model will be necessary to reduce geographical economic inequalities.
All volumes and issues in the Policy Impact Book Series are also accessible online to RSA members via the RSA Lounge.
Print copies of new issues are mailed to all members of the RSA, as one of the many benefits of an RSA membership. The next title, forthcoming in 2022, will be ‘Move on Up! Building, embedding and reshaping global value chains through global investment flows: insights for regional innovation policies’.
