As you are probably aware, the last few weeks have had inboxes across Europe awash with emails asking people to opt into marketing and mailing lists. At the Regional Studies Association office, we too have had to wade our way through consent emails, whilst simultaneously considering the best way to ask people to opt in to our own mailing lists.
In the end, we decided to ask directly via email – aware that we immediately contributed to the deluge of opt in emails in everyone’s inbox and thereafter we would ensure that there was opportunity for people to easily opt in to receiving info about our forthcoming conference in Lugano, grants (Early Career and Travel grants are next up on the 31st May), journal articles (we have calls out for the two RS Special Issues: Planning Regional Futures and Smart Specialization and Learning Regions, or the EC paper proposals for RSRS); and all the events we have planned for later on in 2018 and into 2019 (China, Europe, Russia, Australasia, Canada)…
