We would like to welcome our new Early Career representative to the RSA Board, Vanessa Guerra. We are looking forward to working with Vanessa and are excited about her ideas for the RSA student and EC community.
I am excited to start collaborating under this new role and to work on creating opportunities to support and serve other early career members within the RSA community.
Dr. Vanessa Guerra is an Assistant Professor in Urban and Environmental Planning at the University of Virginia’s School of Architecture, where she teaches across urban planning and urban design. Her work focuses on urban interventions to promote social inclusion, resilience, and sustainable development in cities and regions of the Global South. Her teaching focus intersects with her research interests in urban informality, spatial justice, resilient cities, co-production, and cognitive urbanism. Prior to joining UVA School of Architecture in July 2021, Dr. Guerra served as a research associate and Interim Program Director of Rhizome LLC at Virginia Tech’s College of Architecture and Urban Studies and as a consultant at the Inter-American Development Bank and the World Bank in Washington, D.C. Dr. Guerra has presented her work in conferences and exhibitions across the United States, Europe, and South America, including the 2021 Venice Architecture Biennale, a TEDx event in Quito, Cityworks (Xpo) in Roanoke, and Oxford Talks at the Transport Studies Unit at Oxford University.
We would like to thank our outgoing Early Career representative, Frances Brill, for all her effort during her time on the RSA Board.
