The RSA and Territory, Politics, Governance are pleased to announce changes to the journal’s editorial team. These changes will diversify the editorial board in a variety of respects, including disciplinarily and geographically, and will complement the scholarly and editorial experience of the continuing team members. The expansion of the team is occasioned by several changes. Klaus Dodds, who provided strong leadership during the pandemic and shepherded the journal as it expanded from four to 10 issues per year, stepped down last summer and was succeeded by Editor in Chief Zack Taylor. Deputy Editor-in-Chief Virginie Mamadouh steps down at the end of this year, and is succeeded by Vanesa Castán Broto. We welcome Emmanuel M. Brunet-Jailly and Savannah Cox to the team. The addition of experienced and fresh voices to the team will allow the journal to grow as an interdisciplinary, global venue for high-quality scholarly research.
Emmanuel M. Brunet-Jailly is Professor in the School of Public Administration, Faculty of Human and Social Development at the University of Victoria in Canada. He is also Co-Director of the European Studies Program. He is a political scientist, specializing in comparative and urban politics with a focus on comparative urban governance and governance of cross-border regions. Emmanuel is a past editor of the Journal of Borderlands Studies.
As Co-Editor, Emmanuel will draw on the world-wide scholarly research networks that are at the core of his own interests in geopolitics, international studies, and urban and border studies. He is committed to further developing the academic excellence, relevance and scope of TPG with the editorial team under the leadership of the Editor-in-Chief.
Vanesa Castán Broto is Professor of Climate Urbanism at the Urban Institute and the University of Sheffield. Her research examines the geographies of urban resilience and energy transitions from a feminist perspective.
As a Deputy Editor, Vanesa will continue with her associated editor duties while supporting the Editor-in-Chief in setting strategic directions for the journal and ensuring the journal remains an inclusive, interdisciplinary forum for the latest debates on spatial politics and the governance of territories.
Savannah Cox is an Assistant Professor of Environment at the University of Sheffield, and holds a PhD in City and Regional Planning from University of California, Berkeley. Her research investigates the governance of nature-society relations in contexts of actual or anticipated environmental and economic challenges. Her work on these themes has been published in journals such as Urban Geography, Environment and Planning A: Economy and Space, Economy and Society, Journal of Urban Affairs and the Geographical Journal, among others, and has been recognized as internationally outstanding by the Association of European Schools of Planning.
Savannah looks forward to working with, and learning from, her new colleagues at Territory, Politics, Governance. She is particularly excited about working with the editorial team to advance the journal’s mission of producing rigorous, interdisciplinary research on pressing economic and political problems around the world.
Xiaobo Su is a professor in the Department of Geography, University of Oregon. His research interest is in urban and regional development in China and mainland Southeast Asia. Specifically, he focuses on transnational regionalization, border politics, cross-border trade, and Chinese investment in mainland Southeast Asia. He has published two books and over 40 journal articles.
As Co-Editor of Territory, Politics, Governance, Xiaobo Su will work closely with the editorial team to promote the journal in Asia and choose high-quality manuscripts compatible with the journal’s main themes.
