We are pleased to announce the appointments of David Bailey to Editor-in-Chief and Jennifer Clark to Deputy Editor-in-Chief for our flagship journal, Regional Studies. Jennifer told us “After recently celebrating the first 50 years of Regional Studies I am eager to work with David Bailey and the rest of our experienced and dedicated editorial team to guide Regional Studies into the next fifty years of academically rigorous and policy relevant research on cities and regions. I look forward to welcoming new scholars into our academic community and highlighting the research that will move regional theory, analysis, and policy forward to meet the challenges of a changing regional world.”
The distinctive purpose of RS is to systematically connect insights from the different disciplines to help understand region and city evolution at a sub-national level. We know that the appointments of David and Jennifer will ensure that the journal continues to advance the field of regional studies, and that the issues will continue to interest and inform our international readership. As David told us: “It’s a great honour to become Editor-in-Chief of the RSA’s flagship journal Regional Studies and to work with its excellent editorial board team.”
We would like to thank our outgoing Editor-in-Chief, Ivan Turok for his work with the journal over the past five years; in taking up the role, David passed on his thanks to Ivan: “We look forward to building on the progress made under Ivan Turok as past Editor-in-Chief and thank him for all his efforts. Going forward we hope to encourage academics and policy makers globally to engage with the journal in new ways and to take part in key debates in the field of regional studies.”
We are sure that these new appointments will allow Regional Studies to continue as the leading journal in the development of theories and concepts, empirical analysis and policy debate in the field of regional studies.
