We are delighted to share that Ron Boschma, an RSA Board member, has won the prestigious Vautrin-Lud Prize for 2024. The Prix International de Géographie Vautrin Lud, (Vautrin Lud Prize), is the highest award in the field of geography, named after a 16th Century French scholar, Vautrin Lud, and is considered the ‘Nobel of Geography’, It has been awarded since 1991 and rewards a geographer whose research and work has had a particular impact on the discipline, its thinking and development. It is awarded during the annual International Geography Festival, held in October, in Saint-Dié des Vosges, France.
The 2024 Laurate, Ron Boschma, is Professor of Regional Economics at Utrecht University and Professor of Innovation Studies at the University of Stavanger, and Chair of the Regional Studies Association Research Committee. He has been ranked annually by Thomson Reuters among the top 1% of the most cited researchers in the world in all scientific fields since 2014 and is considered one of the founding fathers of evolutionary economic geography.
