Sadly in August, we say goodbye to Katharina Bürger, our Conference and Project Manager. Katharina has been with us since 2018 and is a well-known face at our conference, and behind the scenes at our Professional Development webinars. As one of our most organised people in the staff team, she will be sorely missed by all of us in the office. We asked her for a few parting words…
After four years with the RSA, it is time for me to say goodbye and thank you all for your support as I am starting an exciting new role I have been offered in Germany! I began my journey with the RSA in November 2018 as the Conference and Events Officer, organising and overseeing different events and conferences, including the Winter Conference, Latin America Division Conference, CEE and Annual conference. More recently and due to Covid-19, I was responsible for running the Professional Development Webinar Series, RSA Writing Group and global online events such as RSA Global and Regions in Recovery. As now Conference and Project Manager, I also took over the work on Research Networks, Policy Expo projects and the travel grant from my wonderful former colleague Klara Sobekova.
Had our Annual Conference 2020 taken place – this event will now take place in Ljubljana in 2023 – by then I had already met over 1000 delegates during one of our events. Looking at numbers from 2020 onwards it gets even more incredible – through our online events I was able to meet over 3000! of our lovely current and (future 😊) members and it was fascinating to hear about your research.
I will continue my PhD research into mega-events and resistance, and if you do want to connect and have a chat about this topic, please find me on Twitter: @KBuerger_
I would like to thank both you and my colleagues for making my role so enjoyable. All that remains to say is Danke und bis bald! 😊
Katharina
