Coronavirus has disrupted conference and events programmes globally resulting in mass cancellations and postponements in 2020.
There remains much ongoing uncertainty about the path of the virus. It is probable that until there is an effective vaccine there remains the likelihood of localised outbreaks requiring suppression. The RSA is concerned for the safety and well-being of attendees, speakers and staff at a large event and has therefore reshuffled its Annual Conference programme. We would like to acknowledge and thank the local organising teams who have supported us and enable us to announce that the 2022 Annual conference will be held in Ljubljana, Slovenia and the 2023 conference will be held in Florence, Italy.
So what about 2021? Well, we will organise a virtual conference and we are seeking a digital conference agency partner for the event. The event will be more than a series of zoom webinars, offering more flexible formats and functionality to enable more than paper presentation sessions and is expected to include both social events and well-being streams.
How can you get involved? We believe that virtual events benefit from scale and we want to see if other organisations and conferences might wish to join us in providing this event to our research community. If you have suggestions contact us for more details – we are not looking for financial input – just more engagement in the event and to keep our community engaged, connected and above all, safe and well.
