We would like to welcome our new social media editor for Spatial Economic Analysis, Jan Ditzen. Jan is originally from Germany, but spent most of his professional life outside of Germany in areas with a strong regional emphasis, namely Scotland and South Tyrol.
Since summer 2020, he has been a Forschungsassistent (Postdoc) at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Bolzano, South Tyrol, Italy and a visiting researcher at Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK. Between 2017 and 2020, he was Research Associate at the Centre for Energy Economics Research and Policy (CEERP) at Heriot-Watt University. Jan obtained his PhD from Heriot-Watt University, a Master in Economics from Hamburg University, Germany, and a Bachelor in Economics from Mannheim University, Germany.
His research focuses on the differentiation and identification of local and global dependencies in networks of regions, countries or firms. He tries to quantify their effect on economic outcomes such as economic growth, house- or stock market prices. Furthermore he has a strong interest in the implementation of econometric methods into statistical software to enable researchers to use state of the art econometric and statistical methods.
