The doctoral programme is designed to be a benchmark of excellence in urban studies, equipping scholars, researchers, and professionals with a comprehensive and interdisciplinary education. It provides a strong theoretical foundation and specialized training, with a particular focus on:
- Contemporary debates and research in urban sociology
- Transformations of local and national welfare systems
- Globalization and its impact on cities
- Emerging inequalities and Mediterranean urban cultures
- Conflicts, protests, and urban governance
- Housing policies, segregation, mobility, environment, and sustainability
The curriculum includes interdisciplinary teaching modules, intensive seminars, and advanced methodological training, with an emphasis on comparative territorial research and spatial/visual data analysis.
The programme promotes international collaboration, offering opportunities for co-tutorships, joint degrees, and extended research stays at European universities.
