Hello from South Australia (ranked fifth on the Lonely Planet’s Top Ten regions back in 2017!)
It is an honour to serve as a RSA Ambassador for Australia and to join the team across Australia working on regional and urban affairs. I look forward to working with existing and hopefully bringing in new members to the Association. My research interests are in urban ecology, and how spatial relations can connect people to place, In particular I am concerned with how cities and regions develop in sustainable ways, and how social justice and inclusion are asserted and embedded in urban and regional planning. My current research focus is on climate change adaptation; this work has included analyses of the contribution of community gardens and urban green space to urban planning, as well as studies into the experience and impact of climate change on Indigenous peoples living in urban and regional areas. I teach urban planning subjects as part of three Masters Programs: the Masters of Environmental Policy and Management, the Masters of Planning and the Masters of Property, within which I deliver courses in urbanisation, space, sustainability and community engagement.
I am looking forward to promoting the work of the RSA across Australia and particularly in South Australia, and to working with the association and its members to build new research and insights into regional and urban issues. Please email me anytime if you have any ideas you wish to progress or need any information.
