Governance for knowledge transfer in the SMEs industrial parks: the case of Sino-European Industrial Parks in Guangdong, China
This project aims to investigate the governance mode for knowledge transfer in the newly-emerged inter-governmental collaboration project between China and Europe in one of the most affluent and open regional economies in China—Guangdong Province. Specifically my research will focus on three critical questions: 1) What is the genesis and development of the Sino-European industrial parks and what is their distinct features compared to other traditional industrial parks; 2) What are the various governance modes that Sino-European industrial parks are organized for the purpose of fully exploiting European SMEs’ core technology and know-how to meet Chinese market potential; 3) In what ways has the organization of Sino-European parks become a vehicle by which EU-China investment is spatially restructured.

Could you share with us a few words on the application process and how supported you have been by the RSA?
I became the member of RSA through the China division in July 2014, and saw the funding opportunities in the website. Firstly, I have tried the RSA conference bursary, as I planned to present my work in the 2014 RSA winter conference. After just a few days, I was informed that I have received the bursary. Then I tried the RSA early career grant, because I think research project grant from such esteemed academic institutes as the RSA will greatly enhance my research profile. The application process is very straightforward in the website. I had a few questions concerning the HEI letter of support, and the RSA staff replied to me timely. With these two successful application experiences, I realized that RSA is a very open research network, in particular they put priority on promoting the growth of young researchers—no matter where you come from. I encourage every young researcher with good research ideas and profiles to apply for this grant, and I am happy to offer my support to future applicants.
